Michele Smith is a member of the firm practicing in the area of family law and adoptions. She joined the law firm upon graduation from law school in 1993.

Ms. Smith is a former public school teacher and a former program trainer with the Guilford County Department of Social Services. She attended undergraduate and graduate school at Appalachian State University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in History and Secondary Education. In 1993, Ms. Smith received her Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, from Wake Forest University School of Law. Ms. Smith was a Junius C. Brown Scholar at Wake Forest University and was Research Editor of the Wake Forest Law Review. She joined the law firm upon graduation from law school.

Ms. Smith is a member of the American Bar Association, the North Carolina Bar Association and the Greensboro Bar Association. She currently serves as the Chair of the Adoption Committee for the North Carolina Bar Association Family Law Section and as a Director on the Executive Board of the Greensboro Bar Association. She is a member of the North Carolina Association of Women Attorneys, the Guilford County Chapter of the North Carolina Association of Women Attorneys; the Guilford Inn of Court and the Triad Collaborative Family Law Practice Group.

Ms. Smith is a member of the Women's Professional Forum and the Women's Professional Forum Foundation Board. She is a former Internal Vice-President and Director at Large of that organization. She currently serves on the Executive Board for Lillian's List. Ms. Smith is a member of the North Carolina Democratic Party's State Executive Committee and serves on that organization's Council of Review for the 13th Congressional District. Ms. Smith's volunteer activities include work with the Family Life Council's Children of Divorce Program, the Bennett College Mentoring Program and the United Way of Greater Greensboro.
