Joe Beatty's practice area is primarily civil litigation. His practice includes products liability, torts, motor vehicle accidents, personal injury, insurance defense, collections, commercial litigation, and municipal and police liability. Mr. Beatty advises clients on prevention of products liability, and assists manufacturers in reviewing and developing appropriate warnings and instructions in installation and owners' manuals. He also analyzes insurance coverage issues and contract issues.
Mr. Beatty graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a B.A. in Political Science. He graduated from Duke University School of Law, receiving a J.D. with distinction. At UNC, he was elected to Phi Eta Sigma and Phi Beta Kappa and participated in the honors program. At Duke, he was a Brainerd Currie Scholar. After graduating from law school in 1969, Mr. Beatty was a staff attorney with the Legal Aid Society of Forsyth County until early 1970. He served on active duty in the U.S. Army Reserve as a Captain in the Judge Advocate General's Corps from 1970 - 1974. Mr. Beatty then joined our law firm in 1974 and became of counsel to the firm in 2010.
Mr. Beatty is a member of the American Bar Association, the North Carolina Bar Association and the Greensboro Bar Association. He is also a member of the Defense Research Institute.
